About

It’s Not All In Your Head & You’re Not Crazy

Greetings and Welcome!

I’m Heather Bradley, PMHNP-BC, and I am deeply committed to providing the best integrative healing and compassionate care for my patients. Fifteen years ago, I started my healthcare journey as an administrative assistant in a private medical office. During this time, I earned my Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Northern Arizona University, graduating Summa Cum Laude. My experiences as a registered nurse deepened my understanding of bridging the gap between patients’ physical symptoms and their mental and emotional experiences. Motivated by a personal and professional desire to expand my knowledge and ability to help others, I pursued and earned a Master of Science in Nursing from Walden University, also graduating Summa Cum Laude.

Beyond my clinical credentials, I have experienced many of the same issues that I treat. These experiences have gifted me with empathy and insight, allowing me to connect deeply with my patients and guide them on their path toward healing and growth. I also believe in the healing power of humor, as it has helped me get through life even in the darkest of times. As I like to say, “It’s not all in your head and you’re not crazy… well mostly.”

My Mental Health Journey

For as long as I can remember, I was always the ‘moody’ one, my attitude could flip on a switch and stay there from hours to days. I was labeled with variations of depression, anxiety, ADHD, and unspecified mood disorder depending upon the provider. Considering the ever-changing mental, emotional, and physical growth from childhood to adulthood, I was left with a rollercoaster of highs and lows. About two years ago, I was diagnosed with Bipolar II following my first hypomanic episode, which helped me finally understand all of my mood fluctuations.

My Medical Story

I was diagnosed with mono at age 10 and became practically bedridden for 3 months. I tested positive again at ages 15 and 18 but was told it’s not possible and it’s all in my head. Doctors didn’t know at the time that chronic active Epstein-Barr virus (CAEBV) existed. Unfortunately, when it rains it pours, and ever since that first diagnosis, I continuously battle chronic fatigue, various gut issues, systemic inflammation, severe Raynaud’s phenomenon, and fibromyalgia. It has taken me years to learn my triggers, and I try my hardest to prevent reactivation, but sometimes life happens.

My Social Experience

I realized early on in life that I didn’t fit into the mold of ‘normal’. Growing up in a small town meant there were clear lines of what was acceptable and what should be kept hidden. Fortunately, when my family moved to Arizona during my teenage years, I found the freedom to explore the spectrum of identity, sexual preferences, and diverse relationships. While I made personal choices, I mostly refrained from public display fearing personal and professional judgment. However, in recent years, I have realized that it’s time to embrace authenticity and live openly. I am a proud pan/poly.

My Adventures and Interests

Outside of my practice, I am an avid traveler with a love for history. Exploring places around the world has enriched my understanding of diverse cultures and perspectives. When stateside, I enjoy all things outdoors, especially hiking, camping, and stand-up paddleboarding. Indoors, I delve into fantasy audiobooks and tinker with craft projects. I have two amazing kiddos and two fluffy St. Berdoodles (St. Bernard/Poodle) who all keep me on my toes.

My steadfast support system of friends and family often describe me as caring, ambitious, confident, trustworthy, smart, adventurous, humorous, and fanatically organized.

From the moment I fell down that rabbit hole I’ve been told where I must go and who i must be. I’ve been shrunk, stretched, scratched, and stuffed into a teapot. I’ve been accused of being Alice and of not being Alice but this is my dream. I’ll decide where it goes from here.
